COMPONENTS FOR SAFARI SPICA

Different components have been developed in the frame of the SAFARI Instrument, such as the launch lock, the levitator system with the actuator system or, the positioning sensor for a scanning cryogenic mechanism with one degree of freedom and high stability for the positioning of two pairs of mirrors in order to carry out optic interferometry.

The different mechanisms developed by LIDAX are listed below:

  • Fourier Transform Scanning Mechanism, a frictionless linear motion stage based on superconducting levitation Linear movement ±9 mm, mechanical resolution 10 µm. Temp 25K
  • Cryo Capacitive Position Sensor, a high range >30mm movement characterization capacitive based sensor, measurement resolution <100µm, Temp 25K
  • Cryo Launch Lock with adjustable load, passive thermally released at low temperature repeatability at Temp ±10K
